Metallica sigue lanzando remasterizaciones de su catálogo, siendo la más reciente Load, 5x platino. Producido por Bob Rock, Load es la continuación de Metallica, el álbum más vendido de la era Soundscan. Load incluye clásicos como "Until It Sleeps", "Hero of the Day" y "King Nothing", y, por primera vez, la versión extendida original de "The Outlaw Torn", editada originalmente debido a limitaciones de fabricación. Remasterizado por Reuben Cohen en Lurssen Mastering y supervisado por el productor ejecutivo Greg Fidelman.
